Eating Disorder Recovery Coaching FAQ

Please check out my about me page to get to know me, my background and experience!

A therapist along with other licensed mental health professional have education and clinical training to diagnose and treat. These professionals are able to work on the clinical side of what you are experiencing. They are also able to help treat co-occuring mental health concerns.

As a coach, I do not diagnose or treat. I am able to collaborate with your team and offer support in your process and treatment plan. We can discuss your recovery and daily struggles, finding helpful ways for you to achieve your goals.  Coaching places emphasis on the “here and now, focusing on the current blimp in time of your experience. Whereas the past or the “why” is applicable to work with a therapist or licensed mental health professional.

There are many scenarios where coaching could be helpful:
• If you are working with another provider (therapist, dietician, psychiatrist, etc.) and are looking for more day-to-day support for your recovery, coaching could be a good fit.
• If you recently left a higher level of care and are finding that you would benefit from more support outside of your current care team. This could be stepping down from any level of care to another.
• If you find that there are specific daily tasks that challenge your recovery that you would like encouragement and support around such as grocery shopping, meal support, shopping, cooking, etc.
• If you are in longer-term recovery and are wanting to explore some of the “grey areas” (I define these as things which you would like to include in your life for enjoyment and fulfillment, but that could potentially be triggering at first/need navigating on how to implement).

Currently I do only work with individuals based in the United States.

Please note I operate on Eastern Standard Time.

Yes, I am an EDIT (Eating Disorder Intuitive Therapy) Certified Eating Disorder Recovery Coach.

How coaching works

Unfortunately, recovery coaching is not a service which is covered by insurance. This being said, if you do have an insurance plan which would reimburse you for my services I will gladly provide you with a receipt to submit.

Absolutely. I will actually request to be able to communicate with your team (therapist, dietician, physician, etc.).Absolutely. I will actually request to be able to communicate with your team (therapist, dietician, physician, etc.). This helps provide the highest level of support and continuity of care.

I require clients to be 18 years or older and at a minimum of 12 months into their recovery process. This helps to ensure you are at a stable place, the groundwork has been set, and we can do our best work together in a coaching relationship.

Outside of this, I will work with an individual struggling with any Eating Disorder diagnosis or Disordered Eating. That said, if during consultation I do not feel like we are a good fit I will be upfront about this and refer out if I am able to do so.

I generally do require that you are working with one other professional (therapist or dietician) at a minimum and that I am able to communicate with this individual.

If you are in longer term recovery, this is decided on a client by client basis but I will require you see a physician and have documentation that you are medically stable. Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating behaviors are very dangerous and can have long-term clinical implications, my upmost concern will always be that you are safe.

We will “meet” via video call using Practice Better or Google Meet. We can also connect through phone call. I’m also happy to meet in-person if you are local to the Mount Washington Valley area of New Hampshire.

At this time this service is not offered.

Short answer: it depends. There are many factors which will go into this decision. We will decide together (likely with input from the rest of your team) on how often to meet and the duration of the coaching relationship. I will ultimately suggest what I believe is best for you and sustaining your recovery process.

Please visit my recovery coaching page to view a breakdown of the services I offer and the respective rates.

At this time I do not offer a sliding scale. However, I am happy to discuss if a lower session frequency would be appropriate.

Absolutely! Please contact me and I will be in touch within 48 hours to book a free 15 minute consult. You are also welcome to set up a 15-minute consultation (“do we vibe” call) here.

Coaching is billed weekly or bi-weekly through PracticeBetter / Stripe and all major credit cards are accepted.
