Coaching for humans in eating disorder or disordered eating recovery / remission
What is recovery coaching?
1:1 virtual coaching around eating disorder/disordered eating recovery to help support your in your process.
In the recovery coaching container, Sarah can meet you where you are at, provide guidance in the grey areas, and be another person in your circle to help you reach your recovery/remission goals. Coaching is having someone with firsthand experience hold the lantern and show that it is possible.
You’ve been on your recovery path for a year or more and are looking for a way to make this is a sustainable part of your life
Coaching is for individuals who are *at-least* one-year into their recovery process. I want you to feel like you have the initial steps or chapters down, and are seeking guidance on really integrating your recovery into your life and the life you want for yourself. Sarah works with folks struggling with any eating disorder diagnosis, disordered eating, body-image challenges, and the gray areas to support long-term and sustainable recovery. This work is meant to supplement the work you are doing with a therapist and/or dietician. I will most likely require that you are working with at least one of these other professionals. This will be discussed during the free consult call to make sure I am the best fit for you, your needs, and your experience.
*not a substitute for clinical eating disorder treatment, medical, or professional help*

Frequently asked questions
We’ve got answers.
+ What is the difference between a coach and a therapist?
A therapist along with other licensed mental health professional have education and clinical training to diagnose and treat. These professionals are able to work on the clinical side of what you are experiencing. They are also able to help treat co-occuring mental health concerns.
As a coach, I do not diagnose or treat. I am able to collaborate with your team and offer support in your process and treatment plan. We can discuss your recovery and daily struggles, finding helpful ways for you to achieve your goals. Coaching places emphasis on the “here and now, focusing on the current blimp in time of your experience. Whereas the past or the “why” is applicable to work with a therapist or licensed mental health professional.
+ Do you have a certification?
Yes, I am an EDIT (Eating Disorder Intuitive Therapy) Certified Eating Disorder Recovery Coach.
+ Do you take insurance?
Unfortunately, recovery coaching is not a service which is covered by insurance. This being said, if you do have an insurance plan which would reimburse you for my services I will gladly provide you with a receipt to submit.
+ Will you communicate with the rest of my team?
Absolutely. I will actually request to be able to communicate with your team (therapist, dietician, physician, etc.). This helps provide the highest level of support and continuity of care.
+ How will we meet for coaching?
We will “meet” via video call using Practice Better or Google Meet. We can also connect through phone call. I’m also happy to meet in-person if you are local to the Mount Washington Valley area of New Hampshire.
+ How long will you be my coach for?
Short answer: it depends. There are many factors which will go into this decision. We will decide together (likely with input from the rest of your team) on how often to meet and the duration of the coaching relationship. I will ultimately suggest what I believe is best for you and sustaining your recovery process.

Fave quotes + my own words
“There are outer mountains and inner mountains. Their very presence beckons to us, calls us to ascend. Perhaps the full teaching of a mountain is that you carry the whole mountain inside yourself, the outer one as well as the inner. And sometimes you search and search for the mountain without finding it until the time comes when you are sufficiently motivated and prepared to find a way through, first to the base, then to the summit.
The arduous difficulties we encounter along the way embody the very challenges we need in order to stretch ourselves and thereby expand our boundaries.
In the end, it is life itself which is the mountain, the teacher, serving us up perfect opportunities to do the inner work of growing in strength and wisdom. And we have a lot of learning and growing to do once we choose to make the journey.”

Be your own sun.

Keep finding,
following,
seeking out a light.
The light source,
hold it tight.
Remember it’s power —
to ground you,
to provide hope,
to provide a feeling of safety.
For even when the light gets dim,
turns off for a moment or moments,
you will have the memory to hold tight until it shines brighter again.
Find a light.
Let it help you.
Keeping following it.

“One day you will awake with the craving for self discovery. When this knowing arrives, and you feel the pull to go out into the world, my hope for you is that your story begins on the cool wood of your kitchen floor.
My hope for you is that you trust the teachings of what brings discomfort. That when you feel as if you are at the cusp of breaking open, out into the wild of the unknown, you step forward with both feet planted in your curiosity and wonder.
My hope for you is that you honor each moment in its entirety. That you choose your feeling over being numb + disconnected. Owning every curve of life’s light and shadow sensations. For you understand that in the present moment is where your happiness is found.”
